Discovering Spirituality in Nature
WELCOME! We invite you to explore the readings and exercises collected here as part of your own spirituality and your immersion with the Living World.
OUR INTENTION: To invite you to join us in slowing down and connecting deeply with the Living World and to discover its cyclical spiritual energy.
We hope to provide RESPITE: In our chaotic and disruptive word, we can experience both nourishing rest and deep care from pausing and receiving within the Living World.
We also offer an INVITATION. Slowly deepening our quiet immersion within the Living World, we may hear her invitation to act with her in some way.
CONTENT: We are offering in-person gatherings after Fellowship on three New Moon Sundays (October 11, November 8, and December 6). We are also offering online, seasonally appropriate haikus and short poems to encourage your creation of sacred space in your own time and at a pace that fits you. Many of these practices come from the Center for Spirituality in Nature, https://www.centerforspiritualityinnature.org.
These monthly postings include: 1) A practice to do at home, whether inside your living space or outside, to help you connect more deeply with the season; and 2) A practice to take with you when you are away from home and attentive to the Living World.
You may consider starting a Discovering Spirituality in Nature journal, memorializing what you observe each time and, in words, drawings, or other personal expressions, how these observations inspire deeper reflection.

Meet the Facilitators
June Zellers
June Zellers (she/her) joined the UUCC in 1998; relocating from the First Universalist Church of Auburn, Maine. Her studies with The BTS Center in Portland deepened her understanding of the spiritual aspects of the current climate crisis and led her to train as a Spirituality in Nature Group facilitator. She supplements her traditional Unitarian beliefs with a Creation Theology perspective and a 30-year Buddhist practice.
Kathy Kellison
Kathy Kellison, (she/her) is a life long Unitarian Universalist with a passion for justice. She centers her spiritual practices in the awareness that we are an interdependent web of creation.
Elaine Boucher
Elaine Boucher is a Mainer, currently living in Augusta with her two cats. She is a massage therapist and reiki master, practicing for nearly 30 years. She is an artist and photographer and enjoys being in nature for inspiration. She loves to hike and travel, exploring the natural world, and taking the road less traveled. She has been a UU since 1988.
