Planning, Consultations and Reservations
At your convenience, please contact the Church Administrator, or firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a walkthrough of the Sanctuary and discuss any questions you may have.
Once you have decided to schedule your service at UUCC, you will need to schedule a meeting with the Minister to begin planning your ceremony. If the Minister is not available to officiate at your wedding, she will refer you to the list of alternative officiants to make arrangements. Rev. Carie Johnsen may be reached at 207-623-3663 or email@example.com.
Reserving the Space and Confirming the Minister
To reserve the space one half of the fees for the Sanctuary use and the Minister or alternative officiant are due with your completed application. The receipt of the Sanctuary fee reserves your date on our church calendar. The receipt of the officiant fees reserves your date on their personal calendar. All the remaining half of the fees will be due 7 days prior to the service date. Please remit each check separately.
Couples may be asked to hire an event sexton for the ceremony. Should you be asked to work with a sexton, the Office Administrator will arrange for their services. You will be asked to make payment directly to the sexton seven days in advance of the ceremony.

Members and friends of UUCC are asked to begin their process of wedding planning with the Minister. If the Minister is unavailable to officiate at your wedding, she will refer you to the list of alternative officiants.
If you are a member of UUCC the Minister is available to provide marriage preparation/counseling and officiate at your wedding at no charge. This is one of the privileges of membership. Members who wish to do so may make a donation to the Ministerial Discretionary Fund. This fund is used to support members, friends and visitors with emergency resources such as gas, electricity, food, rental assistance.
The Minister is also readily available to provide marriage preparation/counseling and officiate for couples who are active friends in the congregation. Officiant fees will apply.
On some occasions the Minister is also available to provide marriage preparation/counseling and officiate at non-member weddings. Officiant fees will apply.
List of Approved Alternative Officiants
Unitarian Universalist Community Church has several active members and staff who meet the requirements of the State of Maine to sign a certificate of Marriage. If you are considering using our facilities for your wedding ceremony any one of the alternative officiants may be available.
Please note: The Minister of UUCC conducts all service in the church for members and active friends. If the Minister is not available she will refer you to the list of alternative officiants.
We recognize that many couples have an outside clergy, special friend or family member who they would like to have officiate their services. If you wish other clergy to conduct or take part in the ceremony, you must confer with the Minister and obtain approval.
On most occasions this is a reasonable request. We simply ask couples to confer with the Minister. The Minister may also ask to speak with the officiant before approval is granted.
Officiants for wedding ceremonies off site
Yes. There may be additional fees for travel and accommodations.
Music for the service

Important policies and practices for you to consider
Please ensure that if you choose to use dropped petals that they are not real flower petals as the oils in the petals can ruin the integrity of the carpet in the Sanctuary. Paper petals may be used as an alternative.
Please ensure no rice is used outside the church, as this is not ecologically friendly to the birds. Bubbles or birdseed can be used, if you wish, as an alternative.
If you wish to have pew decorations, the usage of tacks or nails is not permitted. Most florists are familiar with importance of maintaining the integrity of a church’s paint or woodwork and make specific pew bows that simply hang with a hook over a pew. Another option is the usage of painters’ tape which does not interfere or damage the integrity of the wood or paint. This blue colored tape can be purchased at any hardware or paint store.
