Summer Worship Services

August 1st ~First Fruits:  Honoring our personal harvest ~ Lara Dionne

This is the first traditional harvest holiday in the ancient Celtic calendar, followed by Mabon and Samhain.  We will give thanks for the Earth’s edible generosity and think about what we have harvested spiritually, intellectually and physically during our  individual growth cycles this year, and throughout our lives.

August 8th ~ Prima Materia: First Matter ~ Noah Gottlieb

An exploration of alchemical principles. Congregants are invited to bring something animal/vegetable/or mineral which may be useful for an elixir

August 15th ~ Democracy vs. Majority Rule ~ Joe Laferriere

Many Americans mistakenly believe that democracy and majority rule are the same thing. Quite the contrary, protection of minority right is an essential and indispensable part of democracy. Such rights need to be respected even if the majority opposes such tolerance.

August 22nd ~ Singing Meditation ~ Rev. Carie Johnsen

This service will introduce the practice of singing meditation, which combines repetitive singing of short, simple,  interfaith songs with periods of directed and undirected silence.

August 29th ~ Is Beauty Truth? Is Truth  Beauty? Is That All We Need to Know? ~ Jim Mckenna

We will discuss eloquence and the relation of beauty to truth.  Attendees are invited to bring a brief favorite example of eloquence  (written or sung) and be ready to describe why they so value it.
